I Remember Hopelessness

Light house in storm - an example of being able to trust God through the storms of life.

I remember what hopelessness felt like.

Throttled up against the bathroom wall, eight months pregnant, I felt hopeless.

Dragged along the kitchen floor in a fit of rag, I felt hopeless.

Hiding in the bush, with my baby held tight in my arms, I felt hopeless.

Staying in a women’s shelter, I felt hopeless.

Having four failed marriages, I felt hopeless.

Being married to an abusive alcoholic, I felt hopeless.

Being married to a relapsing crack addict, I felt hopeless.

Being widowed, I felt hopeless.

Losing everything, I felt hopeless.

Starting over again and again and again, I felt hopeless.

I remember the fear hopelessness brought.

Fear there would never be peace.

Fear I would never find relief from the agonizing regret.

Fear I would never get it right.

Fear I would always fail.

Fear what I believed about myself was true.

And then I found hope.

I surrendered my will to God, and my life changed.

God showed me He had a plan for my future. He showed me I had a purpose.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

God provided a way for me. My person. My hopes. My talents. My gifts. My weaknesses. My past. My future. And it worked for me.

And what works for one may not work for another. He knows what you need. He knows your potential. He knows your future. He knows your story.

There isn’t a cookie-cutter formula. You are unique to God. You are one-of-a-kind. He has a plan for your life, for your future. He has a specific plan for just you: how to turn your life around, how to give you hope. How to heal your heart and give you purpose.

TRUST Him.

Give Him your painful past and trust Him with your future.

Give Him your mountains of regret, and trust Him to heal your heart.

Give Him your worries and fears, and trust Him to fill your heart and mind with peace. Hear His voice. Listen to His voice.

Follow Him. Follow His will for your life. https://www.tellingmystory.ca/thegoodnews

I promise if you give it to God, He will take your suffering and turn it for good.

My life was a shipwreck. I had made a mess. He restored my life and turned my ashes into something beautiful.

“a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.” Isaiah 61:3

My friend, God is so good.

Trust Him.

Give Him your life and your life you will gain.

Blessings ♥
